The research I do before ordering something is epic. I looked at a lot of these kits and realized that not all Eggoscopes are equal. Many are sold as kits that can have polymer clay sculpted around the center tube, but they are basically the same kit. Many had brass fittings that were unpolished and un-lacquered. I realized that some had gold plating, so I narrowed my search. These are gorgeous. The lens for the eyepiece is focused perfectly on the images. The retaining ring for the lens is a little tricky to install. A wooden chopstick or dowel will take care of it without damaging the lens. The only problem with mine is of my own doing: I keep taking it apart to examine it and it is starting to damage the FS mirrors. There wasn't enough room in the 'scope body to wrap the tape around the mirrors. If I wasn't taking mine apart so often, this wouldn't really be an issue. All in all a beautiful kit. Makes me wish I was a wood turner.
